Technical Training Trainer for Data Collectors
TASTAKEL, in partnership with the Finnish Aid Organization (FCA) and with funding from UN Women, is seeking a qualified trainer to conduct technical training for data collectors within the project “Strengthening Institutional Capacities and Field Studies on the Reality of Women in Syria During the Transition and Women’s Empowerment in Syria.”
The task aims to prepare 24 data collectors to conduct the field study on the reality of women in Syria according to the approved methodology and tools, ensuring data quality, adherence to ethical standards, informed consent, confidentiality, and data protection.
Key Tasks
• Develop a practical agenda for a two-day training session and training materials for technical training.
• Train data collectors on conducting Key Individual Interviews (KIIs), Focus Groups (FGDs), completing post-interview/session feedback, and documenting data gaps and contextual observations. • Training participants on using Kobo for recording and documentation or other approved digital tools.
• Covering the principles and procedures of informed consent, confidentiality, data protection, and the Do Not Harm principle.
• Conducting practical exercises and simulations.
• Assessing participants’ readiness for fieldwork, including report writing, conducting interviews, and handling disclosures securely and sensitively, including within specialized teams related to gender-based violence, appropriately handling any disclosures, and activating approved referrals.
Required Qualifications
• Strong experience in qualitative field research, monitoring and evaluation, or data collection.
• Experience in facilitating and conducting interviews, asking exploratory questions, and accurately and impartially documenting responses.
• Proficiency in using Kobo or similar digital tools.
• Knowledge of data collection ethics, confidentiality, data protection, and the Do Not Harm principle.
• Strong facilitation and communication skills, and fluency in Arabic.
